Peter C. Reding, age 91 of Algona, passed away Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the Algona Manor in Algona. Peter Charles Reding, the son of Peter and Emma (Germann), was born on July 18, 1929 in Bode, Iowa. He graduated from St. Joe High School in 1949.
On June 20, 1951 Peter C. married his high school sweetheart Irene Berte at St. Joseph Catholic Church in St. Joe. Peter C. was drafted by the United States Army on September 17, 1951 and served until he was honorably discharged on September 16, 1953. After his service, Peter C. and Irene returned to his home farm. Peter C. sold seed corn for DeKalb Seed Corn for 40 years and for Latham Seed Corn for 20 years. They farmed until 1998. He was a member of St. Cecelia Catholic Church, 3rd and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, the American Legion, God’s Country Singers, Black Hat Gentleman Club and the Golden K Kiwanis.
Left to cherish Peter C.’s memory are his wife of 69 years, Irene of Algona; his daughters, Linda (Scott) Nelson of Arden Hills, Minnesota, Kathy Flagg of Medina, Minnesota and Barb (Geoff) Nelson of Sherrard, Illinois; grandson, Michael (Allison) Flagg of Maple Grove, Minnesota; granddogs, Bella & Coco;sister, Leona Stahl of Algona; brother-in-law, Vernon (Betty) Berte of St. Joe; sisters-in-law, Theresa (Harold) Becker of Freeport, Florida and Alona Berte of Algona and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Peter and Emma Reding and father and mother -in-law, Alphons and Adeline Berte.
