Peter A. Vallaro, 84, of Holiday Heights section of Berkeley Township, died on Saturday June 9, 2012 at his home. Born in the Bronx, NY Pete lived in Old Bridge, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1987.
He served in the United States Navy during WWII. Peter was a Volunteer Fireman with the Freeport Fire Dept, Past Vice Commander of the VFW Post #10185, a member of the Holiday Heights Social Club, and a member of the Americans of Italian Descent. Pete spoke with high school and middle school students about his experiences in WWII.
Peter was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, he will be missed. He was a Postman with the United States Postal Service, Old Bridge, NJ, for over 30 years, retiring in 1987. Pete is preceded in death by his parents Peter and Elvira Vallaro, and his brother Ronald Vallaro. Surviving is his loving wife of 59 years Dorothy (McGrath) Vallaro, his children and their spouses Peter J. and his wife Sandra Vallaro, Mark T. and his wife Margaret Vallaro, Deborah Earley, Cynthia Bess, and Christine Ogden.
Two brothers Paul and Raymond Vallaro and his sister-in-law Patricia Melis. Eleven grandchildren Andrew, William, Bryan, Darren, Philip, Richard, Becca, Mark, Isabella, Michael, Tammi and twelve great- grandchildren. Pete is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
