Perry was born December 29, 1935 in Daykyn, Nebraska to Francis and Madge Walsh. He was raised in Alexandria, Nebraska as one of 5 children in the family. His brothers Keith, Dale and Wayne preceded him in death, as did his sister, Ruth, and both parents.

Perry graduated from Alexandria High in 1954 and attended Fairbury Jr. College in Nebraska. Perry then moved to Vale, Oregon where he met the love of his life, Fran. They married on October 19, 1957 and spent the next 65 years creating a beautiful life together, which included six children, 13 grandchildren, and 21 great grandchildren with two more on the way. Perry taught the boys to swim in the bay in Florida in their younger years and like many great fathers taught them how to throw and catch a ball; he attended their games as often as possible. He made sure his children knew how to defend themselves and understood the importance of protecting the little guy.

A retired airman since 1978, Perry had served 20 years as an air traffic controller for the U.S. Air Force.  His service took him overseas during the Vietnam War and thankfully brought him home again. He received many commendations during his service, including the Medal of Good Conduct. After retirement he worked different jobs, mostly as a bartender.

Perry is survived by his wife, Fran; sons, James (Cindy), Russel (Cathy), David, John, Joe, and Perry (Holly); granddaughters, Ravin (Austin), Kara, and Tiffany; as well as his numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
