It is with great sadness and heavy hearts to announce the passing of Pernell D. Winbush, Sr. a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Pernell passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday March 9, 2014 at the young age of 49 years old. Pernell was born December 31, 1964 in Oxnard, CA. and resided in Port Hueneme, CA. with his wife and children. Pernell at a young age loved to play football, he played for the Oxnard chiefs.
He continued to play football and run track for Oxnard High school, he also played football for both Moorpark College and Ventura College. He was a graduate from Oxnard High School and Ventura College. Pernell went on to coach little league baseball, pop warner football and High School football for Oxnard High and Saint Buenaventura High School.
Pernell (17) first met his wife Jean (16) in 1982 they both were in high school he was at Oxnard High and she was at Channel Islands High. They continued to date throughout their Senior and Junior year.
They have been together for 32 wonderful years; they married on January 2, 1988 and recently celebrated their 26 years of marriage this past January.
Pernell leaves behind his wife Jean, sons Pernell, Jr., and Xavier, daughter Priscilla. He also leaves to mourn his Mother Helen, Father Joel, brothers, Joel, Jr., (Rose), Andrew, Sr., (Shelley), and Orval, sisters Adrienne and Kesia (David) and a host of nephews, and nieces and numerous cousins.
Pernell will be greatly missed by many who had the chance to know him and know what a wonderful and caring person he was. We all are going to miss his smile.
