Perfecta Montes Robledo went to be with God on Monday, June 6, 2016. She was 89 years old. She was born on April 25, 1927 to Tiburcio and Margarita (Prado) Robledo.

Dona Perfe or as her grandkids called her, Mama Pe, was a loving wife, nurturing mother and grandmother. She was caring with a kind and loving heart and a soul that gave her a compassionate heart for all the people she came in contact with. Mama Pe was a woman of great faith in God. She also had a great sense of humor and loved music and dancing. She was proud of all of her children and her culture. She guided her children morally and helped them all to become better men and women.

An example of how she showed her compassionate heart and at the same time guided her children morally was when she once gave a young man that was shivering and looked like he was down on his luck, money and told him to get something to eat and try to get well. She told the young man that he needed to get himself straightened out as and she was sure his mother would like for him to do better. The young man cried and promised to try to get better. A woman standing nearby told her, “You are just wasting your money and words. He is only going to drink away the money you gave him.” Mama Pe told her that she would leave that to God. We are supposed to help others that are in need. Recently another young man came and asked for money for gas. Everybody looked past him but my sister Norma and Mama Pe.  They gave him some money and she said the same thing to him that she had said so many other times. “I have many children and I pray that someone will help them when they need help.”

Mama Pe was a woman of great faith in God and just to hear her you could see and feel the deep faith. Whenever someone would tell her about a problem they were facing, Mama Pe would say, “Don’t worry. I will pray to God and do a Rosary so you will get God’s blessing and your problem will go away.”

Mama Pe had a way of making you feel that things would be better because you had her in your corner praying with that deep belief in God and that God would make it happen. Whenever you saw Mama Pe she always had a rosary in her hands and some loving words for you. Before you left she would pray over us and bless us. Everyone always felt lighter in their souls.

She was the teacher and guardian of our family history and culture. She would tell us stories of our Mexican heritage, legends and stories of our grandparents and great-grandparents.

Mama Pe left her mark of kindness, tolerance, and faith for all her friends and family. She is so loved and will be missed.

She is survived by her children; Reyes Montes, Ana Maria Galvan Montes, Atanacio Montes, Eleuterio Montes, Maria Concepcion Rodriguez Montes, Santiago Montes, Miguel Angel Montes, Jose Antonio Montes, Andres Montes, and Maria Perfecta Montes and their spouses; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On Monday evening, June 13th at 5:00 p.m.
