Obituary of Percy Topham
TOPHAM, Percy of Saginaw, Michigan.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.” 2 Timothy 4:7. Percy passed away on Monday, January 28, 2013 at his home with his family at his side. He was 80 years old. Percy Topham was born on February 29, 1932 in Saginaw to the late Percy Sr. and Frieda (Schultz) Topham. He married Abbey Paquette on June 9, 1956 in Saginaw. She survives him.
Percy graduated from St. Marys High School and was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. He was owner and partner of the Yellow and Checker Cab Company until his retirement. He was close to his family and loved spending time with them. He especially treasured their family vacations and enjoyed fishing with his sons. Percy also was lucky in that he had many longtime friends.
Left to cherish his memory besides Abbey, his wife of 56 years, are two sons and a daughter: Mike (Mary) Topham of Ann Arbor, Karen (Bryan) Whitmyer of Tega Cay, S.C., Pat (Beth) Topham of Normal, IL; six grandchildren: Emily and Kate Topham; Erin and Nick Whitmyer, Henry and Spencer Topham.
He was preceded in death by three sisters: Jean Bachteal, Nancy Jarabek, and his twin, Phyllis Floeter.
