Penny Rotenberry Nelson, 78, died Monday, September 4, 2017 at Oxford Health and Rehab in Oxford, MS..m.. Timothy Gibson officiating.. Born in Water Valley, MS to the late Madison Taylor “MT” Rotenberry and Faye Simpson Rotenberry. She accepted Christ at a young age growing up at Taylor Baptist Church. She shared many fond memories of growing up in Taylor. Granmom retired as Lafayette Elementary School Secretary. Where she worked for 25 years. She took excellent care of every student that came to the office. The last several years of her life were well spent taking care of her husband, Jimmy, and enjoying the many activities she shared with friends at First Baptist Church. Granmom can be described as a passionate person, whether it was the Lord, her friends, her church, her family, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchild, Lynleigh. The family extends a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Todd Threadgill, Dr. Mona Castle, and the staff of Oxford Health and Rehab.  Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Jimmy Lynn Nelson and her sister, Gloria Plunk. She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Wamble and her husband, Mike, of Saltillo, MS; son, Jeff Nelson and his wife, Sherry, of Water Valley, MS; sister, Silvia Drake and her husband, Danny, of Hattiesburg, MS; grandchildren, Leigh Taylor Timmons and her husband, Andy, of Vinings, GA; Mary Margaret Wamble of Oxford, MS; Jake Wamble and his wife, Katie, of Atlanta, GA; John Jeffrey Nelson and his wife, Katharine, of Oxford, MS.; and great granddaughter, Lynleigh Logan Timmons of Vinings, GA.
