Penny was born March 1, 1955 in Sterling, Colorado to Don Pryor Adkins and Dona Grace (Coats) Adkins. She graduated in 1973 from Seminole High School in Seminole, Texas. She went to college at San Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas before moving to Lakewood, Colorado with the rest of her family.
She graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelors in Business in 1988. Penny worked for the State of Colorado in the Department of Administration as a Systems Administrator until her disability retirement in 2009.
She enjoyed reading, crafting, movies and spending time with her family especially her nephews and all of their children.
Penny was diagnosed with Systemic Lupus Erythematosus in 1973. In spite of this illness, she lived a rich and rewarding life and was always optimistic and courageous. She was an inspiration to each of us.
She is preceded in death by her mother Dona Grace (Coats) Adkins and sister Cheri Lynn (Adkins) Bryson.
Penny is survived by her father Don P. Adkins; brother John F. Coats of Lakewood, CO.; sister Kelly J. Adkins and wife Patrice Smith of Littleton, CO.; nephews Greg Bryson and wife Ashleigh of Lakewood, CO and Jeff Bryson and wife Peggy of Lakewood, CO and 7 great nieces and nephews and fur-baby Abby who has been adopted by Kelly & Patrice.
