Penny Darlene Dougherty was born Dec. 4, 1948 to Mildred and Joseph Dougherty in Casper, Wyo. She departed this life Sunday, Sept. 5, 2021, at her Choctaw Bluff residence. She had resided in Denver, Colo., the majority of her life.
A 1966 graduate of Natrona High School in Casper, Penny continued her education and received a Bachelor Degree in Criminal Justice and an Associate Degree in Social Science at the Metropolitan State College in Denver.
A loving woman of God, she had come to know Christ Jesus at an early age and was baptized at Grace Lutheran Church in Casper. Later in her adult life, she became a member of Cure d’Ars Catholic Church in Denver.
Penny loved gardening, reading and watching TV westerns. She was an avid follower of archaeology and astrology sciences. One of her greatest joys was feeding birds, squirrels and feral cats.
Preceding her in death were her parents and her god-sister, Roslyn Werth.
Memories of Penny’s life will ever live on in the hearts of her devoted children, Eric (Kirsten) Chapital, Constance Harris (Truth) Fard and Joseph Dougherty; along with her loving grandchildren, Brea RaMonea Harris, Melodee Rose Harris-Perine and Leonard Damian Chapital; her caring brother, Patrick (Dawn) McDowell; sister, Pamela Maddox; niece, Molly Lynn McDowell; with a host of other loved ones and friends.
