Penelope Eileen Pawling Chinik passed away on Saturday, August 28, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer.
She was born October 17, 1942 in Queens, NY to the late John and Georgina Pawling. Penny grew up on Long Island, NY and graduated from Alfred University. She was a court reporter in Athens, GA, San Antonio, TX and later in Boone, NC. Subsequently, she followed her passion for cooking as a representative for Pampered Chef.
She was an active member of Flowery Branch United Methodist Church and held many positions including Chair of the Board of Trustees. She also belonged to the Garden Club of Gainesville and the Lake Lanier Sailing Club.
Penny loved the Lord, her family and her friends. She was a true matriarch adored by so many – a generous and giving soul with a beautiful heart full of grace. Her wisdom and kindness will never be forgotten. She will forever be in our hearts. Until we see you again.
She is survived by her husband James Chinik, her sister Foster (Todd Chapmond); her children, Melissa Amaya, Melanie Vaneck (John Donohue), Damon Amaya (Stephanie Amaya), Pam Chinik (Brian Hinson) and Greg Chinik (Hye-Joo Kim); plus, seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
