Peggy Cooper Ritchie Whitaker, 91, of Salisbury passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022 at her residence.
Born in Lincolnton, NC on October 7, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Nellie Lynn Cooper and Robert Lester Cooper.
Mrs. Whitaker graduated from high school and received her cosmetology license from Salisbury Beauty School. Her hobbies included needle point, cross stitch, painting, and many others. She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church and had recently attended Providence United Methodist Church. Mrs. Whitaker was a true southern lady.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Max Ritchie, Sr., who passed away on January 27, 1969, and sister, Betty Holshouser.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 49 years, Jerry Whitaker; children, Walter Max Ritchie, Jr. (Shirley), Tammy Ritchie File (Doug), Robert A. Ritchie, Mike Whitaker (Phyllis), and Cathy Lynn Whitaker; grandchildren, Sondra Sieradzki (Brian), Caroline Ritchie (Robert Pollock), Amber Ritchie (Mark Campbell), Christopher Harvell (Jessica), Hannah Kepley (Griffin), Heather Ward (Brian), Kathleen Whitaker (Clint), and Katelyn File Medina (Francisco); great-grandchildren, Lillian, Briar, Olan, and Holt Kepley, Callie, Ella, and Wyatt Harvell, Audrey and Anson Ward, Declan Ritchie-Pollock, Quinn Campbell, Dallas Fontenot, Carter, Greyson, and Oakley Medina.
The family would like to give a special thank you to niece, Denise Dalton and caregivers Jennie Safrit, Brooke Elium, Joan Hardin, Cynthia Martin, Sara Jarvis, and Martie Maynard.
