Peggy Lou Ballew Lawton, 78, of Brigham City passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, October 27, 2022, and returned home to her loving Heavenly Father. She was born on November 14, 1943, to Louis Frank Ballew and Bertha Louise Ellison Ballew in Jefferson, Tennessee.
She graduated from Jefferson City High School and attended Weber State College.
Peggy proudly served our country in the US Navy from 1961 – 1964 and was honorably discharged.
She lived in Tennessee, North Carolina, Georgia, Missouri, and settled in Utah.
Peggy married the love of her life, Kendall Gene Lawton, in Shelby County Tennessee. They were married for 59 wonderful years.
She is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served as a Scout Leader, Primary President, Sunday School Teacher, and a Relief Society Teacher.
Peggy was a hunter safety instructor for many years.
She enjoyed reading, sewing, painting, quilting, gardening, computer games, animals, cooking, baking, fishing, camping, and especially spending time with her family.
Peggy was extremely intelligent, tender hearted, loving, and caring. She had a bright and fun personality, always teasing others. When she wanted something done, she would get it done without hesitation. She was very determined.
The family would like to give a special thanks to the Brigham City First Responders, Brigham City Hospital Emergency Department, and the ICU Unit at the Ogden Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her dear husband: Ken Lawton; her daughters: Le Lawton and Tina Hatch (Paul); and 6 grandchildren: Tyrell, Kendall, Marissa, Branford, Wayne, and Gideon and 6 great-grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and step-father, Herbert Bradley.
