Mrs. Peggy A. Winter-Zemene, 80, of Hagerstown, Maryland died on Wednesday, March 7, at 11:00AM in her home after a short illness. She was born on July 9, 1931 in Clarksburg, WV to the late Meigs Burton and Mary Susan Winter. After high school graduation Peggy attended Sullens College in Virginia and graduated as a Registered Nurse from the University of Virginia. She worked in local hospitals as well as in Columbia Presbyterian and Beekman Hospitals in New York City. In 1965 she married Charles Zemene at the University of Virginia Chapel. Travelled and moved extensively domestically and overseas. She was an avid reader of English literature and poetry, collector of antiques and folk arts and also a tennis enthusiast. She was always proud of her West Virginia heritage and her direct family ties to the first settlers of Clarksburg WV the Hickmans. Peggy is survived by her husband Charles A. Zemene.
