Pearl Keron of Burlington, NJ, departed this life on January 28, 2015, at Virtua Health & Rehab in Mt. Holly, NJ, at age 87 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

The family would like to mention the wonderful staff in the Maple Unit of Virtua Rehab, and also the incredible angels of Samaritan Hospice, who do an extremely difficult job with grace, devotion, sensitivity, and love. Pearl was born in Dickson City, PA, on February 12, 1927, one of 13 children. After a Dickensian childhood during the Great Depression, losing her mother at age 6, and father at age 9, Pearl finally came to live with her sister Genevieve, or Jean, in Burlington, who also took in several younger brothers with incredible generosity despite being a young wife and mother herself. Pearl graduated Wilbur Watts High School in 1945, where she starred in the class play with her lovely singing voice.

She worked at Bell Telephone for several years, volunteering to come in during VE Day, before leaving to become a full-time wife to the love of her life, Hank, and wonderful Mom to Jim and Kathy, who had the comfort of knowing she was always there for them. She turned her considerable energies to decorating her home in Columbus Park, especially at Christmas, and becoming a terrific cook who could grab several seemingly unrelated items from the fridge, throw them in a pan with the correct seasonings, and make a great, nutritious meal. Holidays at the Keron household always featured lots of delicious food with friends and family.

Finally being reunited with her beloved husband Henry (or Hank, as he was always known), she leaves to cherish her memory her son Jim of Westville, NJ, daughter Kathy Zarling Pritz (Larry) of Burlington, brother Len (Dolly) Rencevicz of Mt. Laurel, devoted nieces Marie Foy, Mary Rencevicz, and especially Bernice Amlicke (Pete), who was more like a sister. She is also remembered by many more nieces, nephews, especially Ed McGrath of The Villages, Florida, and cousins.
