Pearl M. Johnson age 91 of Ashland. Died Saturday August 14,2010 at the Good Shepherd Home.
Born November 24, 1918 she was the daughter of Clyde C. and Doris (Teeters) Mitchell. Mrs. Johnson was born and raised in Marion Ohio, moving later to Mansfield and then to Ashland.
On July 24, 1938 she was married to Howard (Howdy) Johnson who preceded her in death on February 5, 1988.
She was very active in the Ashland Christian Woman’s Club for nearly twenty years. She was also a circuit speaker for Christian Woman’s Club’s and councils and for woman’s confirmers.
She taught a woman’s Bible study for over twenty five years and was involved in a couples Bible class for twenty years.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of the Grace Brethren Church in Ashland and was a member of the Ambassadors Sunday School Class. At different times she also served as a deconess, Sunday School Teacher and Bible School’s.
She also served many years as the Red Cross Canteen Chairman. Pearl will be remembered for her cooking and baking.
Survivors include one son and daughter in law, Clair and Carol Johnson of Ashland, four grandchildren, Robert (Candice) Johnson of Strongsville, James H. Johnson of Wadsworth, Mathew (Dorene) Johnson of Ashland and Heidi (Shawn) Rogers of Mohicanville.
Twelve grandchildren also survive.
Three step sisters and one sister in law also survive, Barb Price of Marion, Joyce Murphy of Marion, Carolyn Goodwin of LaRue and Mary Mitchell of Marion.
In addition to her husband Howard she is preceded in death by her parents, one son Robert A. Johnson and one brother Joseph Mitchell.
