Pauline N. “Polly” (Naas) Lawson, 98, of Peru, IL passed away Friday, March 18, 2022, at Country Comfort in Princeton.

Polly was born April 18, 1923, in Roanoke, VA to Oliver L. and Mabel (Ruliffson) Naas. She married George R. “Joe” Lawson on April 13, 1951, at Scott Air Force Base in Belleville.

Polly was a graduate of Hope College in Holland, MI and received her master’s degree from Ohio State University. She was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a pharmacist mate from April 1945 to June 1946. She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society – Omicron Chapter. She retired as a teacher and counselor in Preble County, OH. Polly was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, LaSalle. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star – Chandlerville Chapter, Illinois Valley Community Hospital (now St. Margaret’s Hospital) Auxiliary and the Illinois Valley Women’s Club.

Survivors include one son, Larry (Deborah) Lawson of Princeton; her step-daughter, Juanita Lawson (Alan) Sharman of England; seven grandchildren, Hazel (Emmet) Sims, Dr. Lucinda (Dr. Joshua Miller) Lawson, Joan (Clark) Simpson, George (Christine) Lawson, William (Julia Fornek) Lawson, John Kennedy, and Jennie Sharman; five great-grandchildren, Jenah, Cora and Evelyn Sims, Lillian and Joseph Simpson, Bryony and Orion Miller, William, Lucille, and Paulina Lawson, and Alex Kennedy; her sister, Hazel (James) Kaiser of Rochester, NY; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe, on January 19, 1993; one son, Jay Norman Lawson in infancy; step-granddaughter, Elizabeth Kennedy; four brothers, Clarence, Wendell, Donald, and George Naas; and three sisters, Marjorie Williams, Marion Betteridge, and Esca Adair.
