Pauline O. Veach, 87, died peacefully on Sunday, April 27, 2014 in Liberty Village, Freeport, IL.

Pauline was born July 13, 1926 to Amos and Cleo Thomasson in Stockton, IL. She married the love of her life, John C. Veach on January 5, 1951.

Pauline worked at Jewel Foods/Magna Groceries in Rockford and retired from Jewel in Freeport in 1997. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Freeport. She worked hard to receive her GED and was among the graduates of 1999 at the ripe old age of 72. She loved so many things including music, dancing, puzzles, flowers and family. Dancing was one of her favorite things to do and she was on the dance floor as often as she could be.

Pauline served as den mother to her son’s cub scout group in the 60’s. She loved to cook and made plenty of feasts at the “party house” for her family.

Pauline volunteered at FACC after retirement and donated to St Jude’s Children’s Hospital regularly after losing her husband to cancer in 1989. She will be deeply missed.

She is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Pat) Schleich of Freeport, IL; sons, Don (Dianna) Pash of Murrieta, CA; Ken (Sue) Veach of Schaumburg, IL; Rich (Debbie) Veach of Machesney Park, IL; Steve (Patty) Veach of Rockford, IL; nine grandchildren, Kim (David) Pash-Long; Dr. Jeff (Sarah) Schleich; Brandi (Denny) Haukaas; Nick Schleich; Danielle (Brian) Siedschlag; Jennifer (Ryan) Hervey; Aaron (Dawn Barnhouse) Veach; Molly Veach; Emily Veach; eight great-grandchildren; Addison, Reese and Keaton Schleich; DJ, Christian, Sebastian and Damian Haukaas; Caleb Siedschlag; brother, Eric (Vera) Thomasson of Stockton, IL; sisters-in-law, Helen Conklin of Long Island, New York; Virginia (Bob) Keister of Freeport, IL; brother-in-law, Albert (Grace) Veach of Glen Burnie, MD and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, Amos and Cleo; husband, John; sisters, Myrna Endress; Wynetta Boyer; Corretta Endress; Mary Ann Hayes; Josephine Belk and brother Leslie Thomasson.
