Martha Pauline McEntire, 88, died May 18, 2017 at Wesley Woods of Newnan following a long, full life. She was born on November 12, 1928 in Lafayette, Georgia to the late Otis and Jewel Greer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Don McEntire, as well as her sisters Ruby King, Effie Prince, and Lou Ella White.
She married Don McEntire in 1947 and they lived in Rome where they were members of Oostanaula United Methodist Church. Pauline was a homemaker until 1970 when she decided to go back to school. She graduated from Coosa Valley Technical College (now Georgia Northwestern Technical College), and after graduation, she started her second career working in the business office at Floyd Junior College (now Georgia Highlands College). She went on to become the college’s Assistant Controller, the position from which she retired in 1989.
When she was not busy with her careers, she was an active member of her church, leading Bible studies and Sunday school for over 50 years.
Pauline is survived by her sister, Annie Coker, two grown children, daughter Joan Christian of Rome, son Dennis McEntire and his wife Sally of Newnan, as well as three grandchildren, Elizabeth Williams and Clay McEntire of Newnan, and Ashley Dew of Germany, and three great-grandchildren.
