Pauline Halamay, 90, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Summa Akron City Hospital. The family would like to thank all the caring and wonderful caregivers at Barberton Citizens Hospital, Summa Critical Care Unit and Summa Palliative Unit, who took such compassionate and loving care of our mother, Pauline. Pauline, her husband Walter and daughter Luba came to the United States on October 1, 1949. In 1958, the same year their son Ehor (Edward) was born, Walter and Pauline began Halamay Photo Finishers from their home. After years of hard work, the business grew into a true family-run operation and became known as Halamay Color Lab. Although the photo business saw changes with the introduction of digital, adjustments were made and the lab continues until today. Pauline retired in 2005. Pauline was a member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Catholic Church and the Ukrainian Community and participated in many of the religious, cultural and civic activities. She was an active member of the “pierogie” group and will be missed by all her many friends, including Anna Chrapko and Anna Dumanski. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents, Stephan and Anastasia Rohachenko; her husband, Walter in 1999; her brothers, Petro, Harry, John and Wasyl; brother and sister-in law, Michael and Anna Halamay and nephew, Lubomyr; dear friends, Danylo and Teresia Kozak and many other relatives in Ukraine. She is survived by her daughter, Luba and her son Ehor (Edward); nephew, Ihor of Philadelphia, dear friends Irene and Bob Dyer of Arizona; Peter, Theresa, Alex and Andrew Kozak of Norton; Danny and Pam Kozak, Kelly and Billy of Illinois and relatives in Ukraine.
