Paula Catherine (McBride) Corti, 88, of Peru, passed away Friday, December 7, 2018 at Manor Court in Peru.
Mrs. Corti was born on October 1, 1930 in LaSalle to Robert and Catherine (Finn) McBride. After graduating from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1948, Paula married Leonard J. Corti on August 21, 1948 in St. Patrick’s Church, LaSalle, a marriage that lasted 68 years. Throughout her marriage, she held various jobs but most enjoyed her 17 year career as a realtor with Coldwell Banker. As Leonard’s career soared, they moved from the Midwest to the east coast to the west coast and in between numerous times.
She had friends all over the country and volunteered with many organizations. She was most passionate about raising funds for Horizon House and personal donations to St. Jude.
Paula adored her grandchildren and was always there when her daughters needed her the most. She was very proud of her Irish heritage and with her death, closes out a generation, leaving many close nieces and nephews.
She is survived by two daughters, Cathy (Jerry) Bernabei of Tonica and Lynn (Greg) Sheedy of Peru and four grandchildren, Matthew, Jason and Justin Grubar and Brendan (Sierra Willis) Sheedy and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leonard on November 22, 2016; her son, Mark Michael Corti; one grandson, Ryan Sheedy; one great-granddaughter, Willow Rose; one sister, Mary LaBarbera and two brothers, James and Richard “Dick” McBride. Pallbearers will be Matthew, Jason and Justin Grubar, Brendan Sheedy, Ralph McBride and Mike Nelson. Honorary pallbearers are Adel Thompson, Wendy Fulmer, Bob Huber, Kathy Lange, Deb Nelson, Dr. Mark Fernandez, Emila Rea and Kristin Villalovos.
