Paul W. Card, age 81 of Midland, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away Monday, May 9th, 2016 at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland from Myelodysplastic Syndrome, (MDS). The son of the late Floyd and Norene (Anger) Card was born April 11th, 1935 in Midland, graduating from Midland High School in 1953. Paul married the former Dorothy Potts on June 25th, 1955. They shared 60 wonderful years of marriage together.

Paul was employed with the Dow Chemical Company as an Engineering Design Specialist. He attended Central Michigan University and Michigan State University. Paul retired from Dow after forty years of service in 1993.

In his younger years, he enjoyed camping, snowmobiling, being out on his sailboat and playing the guitar, banjo, and mandolin. Many memories were made with family and friends at get together at the backyard pool that he built himself. Paul and Dorothy were able to go on several cruises which they loved. Paul was a member of the Bay City Yacht Club, Elks Club 1610, and the Moose Club 1541.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; three children, Michael (Brenda) Card of Oklahoma City, OK, Kathryn (Mark) Sirrine of Midland, and James (Michele) Card of Katy TX; six grandchildren, Jonathan Card, Oklahoma City, OK, Daniel (Melaney) Card, Sherman, TX, Matthew (Jenefer) Sirrine, Brentwood, CA, Stephanie Sirrine, Midland, and Brittany and Andrew Card, Katy, TX. Additionally he is survived by his brother; Gary Card, of St. Charles, MI, and brother and sister-in-law, Lawerence and Jean Potts of Midland. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Lori Card, his-in-laws, John and Eva Potts, and his sister-in-law, Phyllis Card.

Paul’s family would like to thank Denise, Jackie, Julia, and Jenna from MidMichigan Hospice for the wonderful care they gave him. Also, Dr. Paul Berg, Dr. Daniel Danso and his staff from MidMichigan Medical Center and Dr. Patrick Burke from the University of Michigan Hospital.
