Paul Wayne Smith, 82, of Virginia, IL died Sunday, October 24, 2010, at his residence. He was born February 1, 1928, in Sommerville, IN; the son of Clarence and Amy Jenkins Smith. He married Alberta Jaeger on April 17, 1949, in Harvel, IL and she survives.

He is also survived by two daughters, Linda Finch (husband, Dwight) of Ft. Pierce, FL and Paula Smith of St. Louis, MO; two grandsons, Bryan Finch (wife, Jennifer) of Atlanta, GA and Aaron Finch of Rumson, NJ; two great-granddaughters, Harper and Bailey Finch; two sisters, Phyllis Angelo (husband, Vince) of Orlando, FL and Carol Paulson of Madison, WI; four nieces; and three nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Marian Keith.

Mr. Smith was a 1946 graduate of Morrisonville High School and served with the US Navy during the end of WW II. He was employed at Peabody Coal Mine in Langleyville from 1948 to 1950 and later at the Shell Oil Refinery in Woodriver from 1950 to 1963. He became a Western Auto dealer in 1963 relocating to Virginia where he operated a store for 25 years until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Beardstown.
