Paul Victor Brodt left his family on earth and joined his family in heaven on July 16, 2018 at his home in Scottsdale, AZ. Paul was a wonderful man that was loved, is missed, and will always be remembered.
Above all, Paul was a devoted family man. He loved and cherished his wife, Renee and their three sons, Peter, Aaron and Zach. He relished being called ‘Big Poppy’ and ‘Grampa Pauly’, and loved his five grandchildren, treating them to spontaneous concertos and funny duck voices. Paul was the cornerstone of family for many – a loving uncle, a steadfast brother, an adoring father-in-law, devoted son, and fun-loving cousin.
Born on May 28, 1947 to parents Leonard and Leona in Chicago, IL, Paul was the youngest of three children; brother Roger (deceased) and sister Laurel. His fun-loving, larger than life personality carried “Buster” through many storied adventures throughout his youth and into college at the University of Illinois.
During a summer break in 1968, Paul traveled to San Francisco where he met the love of his life, Renee at a residence house.
Paul’s banking career brought the family to Scottsdale, AZ in 1988, where he made countless new friends through business, on the golf course, and as the unofficial mascot of his sons’ basketball teams. A song was always in his heart, and he would raise the rafters at any opportunity, from karaoke to church and anywhere in between.
Those that knew Paul well knew him as a kind and generous man, who worked tirelessly to provide for his family, since his plan to win the lottery never materialized. He admired and respected his sons for their personal and professional achievements, and adored his wife of 48 years. He was a good friend and was respected as an honest and genuine businessman who valued relationships above all else.
A man of strong faith, Paul believed in the power and strength of Jesus Christ’s love, and the beauty and peace that would await him after his passing.
