Paul Marion Muncrief passed away on September 6, 2022, after many years of health issues involving his heart. Paul passed away at his house in Weed New Mexico, where he loved to spend time at his favorite fishing spot, on his creek. Paul was born in Las Cruces, NM on March 27, 1948, to Earnest and Earnestine Muncrief and was the youngest of 8.
Paul is survived by his Son Shawn Muncrief (Shirley Sambrano), Daughter Kerrie Jo Muncrief (Saul Saldivar), Son Kenny Wooten, Grandchildren; Austin, Sebastian, Sonny, and Tori, Two Sisters; Clara, Ellen, their spouses, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his wife and love of his life Mary Muncrief, Father Earnest, Mother Earnestine, Brothers, Winston, Wayne, Harrison, Bill, Jim, and his Granddaughter Tristan.
Paul started his career as a successful contractor and owner of a construction company. Paul soon found a new path in life as an inventor. Paul was the inventor of many things and held patents on many inventions. However, Paul’s greatest invention and the one he was most proud of was the invention of cotton insulation. Paul loved to tell the story of the process of inventing the cotton insulation by means of baking cotton in his oven at home. Paul would always say he loved the smell of cotton baking in the oven.
Paul was described by many, or maybe all who knew him, as being stubborn, hardheaded, feisty, hot tempered, but most of all loyal. Paul had the privilege of knowing many people and having many loyal lifelong friends, some going back almost 60 years. Paul was loved by many and also feared by some. Those who knew Paul would know his favorite line was “I’m going to kick his ass!”
Paul routinely commented that his greatest loves and joys in his life were, his wife of almost 40 years, Mary; his children, and his grandchildren (ok, maybe fishing as well. Everyone knew Paul loved to fish). Paul was recently overjoyed and proud of the anticipation of the upcoming birth of his first great-grandchild. When Mary, his wife, passed away and he lost one of the greatest loves in his life his heart was broken. Despite Paul’s pain and broken heart, he stayed strong and hopeful in the thought of being reunited with Mary again. Per Paul’s wishes, he will be.
