Paul Lavere Deverick was born to Coy Alfred Deverick and his wife Julia Redick Deverick on February 4, 1926, in Walton, West Virginia.

In addition to his parents, Paul was preceded in death by his siblings Leslie, Eugene, and Dorothy. Paul enlisted in The United States Marines in October of 1944 and this would soon become a life-determining event for him. He would become a member of the elite group of men who would serve their country during both World War II and The Korean War. He served as an MP during World War II. He married his high school sweetheart Glenna Samples on July 2, 1945. They were married for 70 years at the time of his passing.

During The Korean War, he was involved in the dramatic battle of the Chosin Reservoir. It was one of the darkest times of the war and was an 80-mile march to the coast under absolutely frigid conditions and was a period that came to be a Marine Corps legend. For the remainder of his life, Paul was a Marine through and through and became a charter member of the local Marine Corps League. These Marines will be affording their comrade full military honors at his funeral. After the war, Paul was a production supervisor for Union Carbide for 41 years. Possessed a tremendous work ethic, he also was a home builder for 30 years in the Charleston, West Virginia area. Twelve years ago, Paul and his beloved wife Glenna, moved to Newnan to be closer to their family.

Paul is survived by his wife, Glenna, their daughters Stephanie Deverick and Diane Bickerstaff, and her husband Robert. He was the grandfather of Jamie Mitchell, Kari Thornton, and her husband Robert and step-grandfather to Kim Woodard and Robert Bickerstaff, Jr. There are nine great-grandchildren.
