Paul Laverne Ellis lived 80 years, most of them in Wranglers and cowboy boots. On Friday, May 08, 2015, he joined his son, Danny, and his Savior, Jesus.

Paul was born on February 22, 1935, in Longmont, Colorado, to Elmer and Lucy Ellis. He lived in Missouri until he moved with his family to Buhl in 1953, where he met the love of his life. Paul and Joyce were married on November 12, 1954, and celebrated their sixtieth wedding anniversary last fall on the Oregon Coast with their family.

Music was a big part of Paul’s life. In high school, he and one of his good friends played guitar and sang country/western music for the local radio station.

Paul spent much of his life as a salesman. He loved gadgets and was a genius fix-it man. If he couldn’t find a part to repair something, he had the natural ability to create what he needed. He loved technology and was interested in how everything worked. As a child (when he wasn’t in the cellar skimming cream off the milk), he curiously took apart his dad’s watch multiple times, much to his father’s chagrin.

Paul and Joyce had two children, Paula and Danny. They raised their family in Buhl and lived there until 1995, when they relocated to Boise. Paul made many good friends through local bowling leagues. He was an ace bowler and loved to compete for quarters.  As he showed his winnings to Joyce, he’d often remark that he couldn’t give up bowling as it was just too profitable.

His parents, three brothers, two sisters, and his son, Danny, preceded Paul to heaven. Survivors include his wife, Joyce, daughter and son-in-law, Paula and Ben Buckendorf, three grandsons, Brad (Maylene), Phil, and Geoff.

He loved his family more than anything else in his life and passed on his Christian heritage, corny sense of humor, love of competing in pool, checkers, and bowling, and his fix-it mentality to his grandsons. He will be greatly missed by his family until they are all reunited in heaven. What a day that will be!
