WEST HARTLAND –ESEPPI – Paul John Eseppi, 87, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 27, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was the devoted husband of Irene (Poniatoski) Eseppi for 65 years. Born October 26, 1930 in Torrington; the son of the late Christiano and Lena (Lecchi) Eseppi. Paul graduated from Torrington High in 1948. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant First Class Jump Master for the 13th Airborne Ranger Company during the Korean Conflict. He was employed as a General Contractor for C.H. Nickerson from 1952-1978 and then owned and operated GESCO Inc., until retirement. Paul was very involved in his community. He was Chief of the West Hartland Volunteer Fire Department, active member of the Board of Education, Historical Society and the Hartland Lions Club. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and stone masonry, and will be well remembered for his great gift of storytelling. He was an avid reader, antique collector and an expert on Civil War history. He loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed. In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Karen Penoncello and husband Larry of SC, Christopher Eseppi and partner Patricia Stanley of FL, Mark Eseppi and wife Karen of FL and Cynthia Rines and husband Jeffrey of West Hartland; grandchildren, Scott and wife Gina, Jamie and wife Lisa, Nicole and husband Jason, Gregory, Matthew and wife Lynn, Brian and wife Margaret, Melissa, Phillip, Ryan and Eddie; and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, Albert and John Eseppi and two sisters, Virginia Nowakowski and Helen McLean.
