Born January 21, 1921 in Bethyl Twp, Clark County, Ohio to Sumner and Edna Glaser Schauer; died December 2 in Gulf Breeze, FL Graduated from Bath High School in Osborn, Ohio 1939 and was Valedictorian and President of his senior class. After graduating from the University of Dayton with a degree in Chemical Engineering in 1943. He completed Officer Training School at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD He then went on to complete training at the US Submarine School in New London, CT in 1944. Paul served with the US Submarine Force Pacific from 1944-46 and was awarded the American Theatre Medal, Asiatic/Pacific Medal (3 battle stars),Philippine Liberation , Victory Medal and the Submarine Combat Pin ( 2 stars). He retired from active duty in the Navy in 1952 with the rank of LT USNR. Paul participated in the Honor Flight to Washington, DC in the spring of 2010 with special thanks going to Gulf Breeze High School for making that trip a reality as Paul stated it was one of the greatest highlights of his life. After WWII he worked for Monsanto Co as Plant Manager, Gen Superintendent Engineering and Gen. Superintendent of Manufacturing from1946 to 1984. Paul loved to ride his BMW motorcycle including trips throughout the US, Mexico and Canada logging over 72,000 miles He also enjoyed sailing his 30 ft French made Jeanneau sailboat up and down the Gulf Coast. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Margaret Schauer; 8 children; Jennifer Bauer, James Schauer, Jacquelyn Schauer, Jeffery Schauer, Janet McClure, Julia Schauer,, Jessica Limbaugh, Nikki Pagonis; 14 grandchildren: Alex Bauer, Andrew Bauer, Anna Bauer, Lara Weaver, Holly Weaver Raulston, Colin Schauer, Brett Schauer, Shelley McClure Bird, Carrie McClure, Melanie McClure, Nathan Limbaugh, Margaret Rose Pagonis and Alex Pagonis; and 3 great grandchildren, Arabella Milne, Matilda Bauer, and Wyatt Constatine.
