Paul J. Silger, Jr. age 93 of Centralia, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Centralia Manor.

Paul was born January 15, 1925 in Centralia on the family farm, the son of Paul Silger and Rose (Buhl) Silger. He married Imogene Huck on April 24, 1948 in Norris City, IL and she survives him in Centralia.

In addition to his wife Imogene of 70 years, he is survived by two sons: Rod Silger and wife Phyllis of Hoyleton, and Michael Silger and wife Sandy of Wentzville, MO; four grandchildren: Seth Silger and wife Shana of Carbondale, IL, Rachel Schmidt and husband Dan of O’Fallon, IL, Michael Silger Jr. of Japan and Caitlin Silger of Wentzville, MO; three great grandchildren: Hanna Schmidt, Sophie Silger, and Spencer Silger; one sister-in-law: I. Janet Huck of Hoyleton.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents.

Paul was a graduate of Centralia Township High School. He was a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau, and NRA. He was most proud of his family for receiving the title Washington County Conservation Farm Family of The Year in 2003, as well as the recognition as an Illinois Centennial Farm in 1980. He farmed in Hoyleton and Centralia his entire life.
