Paul Iverson Namtvedt II was born October 18, 1947, in Spirit Lake, IA. Passed away on September 27,2021, in Fairbanks, Alaska. Preceding Paul in death was his parents: Paul Iverson Namtvedt and Austinette Pearl Hefte Namtvedt Nerhus and brother Peter Iverson Namtvedt. Survived by his wife, Jane, brother Mark and wife Shelley, three nieces: Macy (Geno) Muccicciaro, Bailey (Gabe) Acosta, Nicole Blackburn Eggleston (William), nephew Tyler Namtvedt (Heather). Paul was an avid outdoorsman, Eagle Scout and Patriot. He graduated from Spirit Lake High School in 1965 and attended Estherville Junior College. He enlisted in the USAF. He trained at Lackland Air Force Base in Texas. In Texas he entered high security school for air traffic control.
He was assigned to Hickham Air Force Base in Hawaii in 1968. Paul’s team handled the Air Force traffic controlling for Nixon’s trip to China, the astronauts landing in the Pacific, and U2 Blackbird flights. Paul headed to Alaska after getting out of the service. He originally lived in Livengood, Alaska. There he worked for several locals and did some gold mining for many years. He then moved to Fairbanks, Alaska, where he met and married Jane Namtvedt. He went to work for Alaska Pipeline, where he worked for many years, until he retired. He will be missed by his friends and family. Gone, but never forgotten.
