Paul Pedersen died on Thursday, October 1, 2015, in his sleep. He was born October 20, 1932, in Brooklyn, New York to Jonas and Kristine Pedersen, the youngest of three children. Though Paul began his grade school education in Philadelphia, he graduated from Alcee Fortier High School in New Orleans in 1950. He enrolled in college at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, served two years in the US Army, and graduated from LSU in 1959 with a bachelor of science in chemical engineering. Years later he frequently stated to his children that he had the honor of graduating “Magna Cum Lucky.”Paul’s lucky streak began before his graduation, though, when he met Miriam McArthur. They married on August 22, 1959, and soon welcomed daughter Reidun Miriam on October 9, 1960, followed by Paul McArthur on August 16, 1963; Erik John on April 13, 1967; and Kristine Ruth on December, 31, 1969. We are blessed to have such amazing parents.Paul began his career selling scientific equipment and supplies for Curtin Scientific Company, a path which led from New Orleans to Atlanta to Houston.
