Paul Elvin Shadley, went home to be with his Lord on April 2, 2020 at the age of 90.

Paul was born February 1, 1930 in Kalamazoo, the son of Robert and Zilla (Kristlyn) Shadley, Sr. On November 27, 1953, he was united in marriage to Beulah (Wright) Shadley. He was a lifelong area resident and prior to his retirement was employed for 35 years with The Upjohn Company printing department.

Paul was a very proud recipient of the distinguished Upjohn Award in 1971, but even more proud was his father, Robert, who received the same award in 1960. He was a man of deep faith and conviction who was a longtime active member of Greenwood Reformed Church. He was blessed with a rich tenor singing voice which he cultivated further through vocal training with Dr. Elwyn Carter from WMU.

Paul freely and regularly shared this gift with family, community, and many churches. In keeping with his love of performing, he enjoyed telling corny jokes and puns to anyone he came in contact with. For the last two and a half years, Paul and Beulah resided at Park Village Pines where they received loving care and support. He cherished time spent with family and friends.

Surviving are his wife of 66 years Beulah May Shadley; three children and their spouses: Pamela (David) Buis, Mark (Jill) Shadley, and Jeff (Karel) Shadley; grandchildren: Peter (Cara) Buis, Katie (Jeremy Nufer) Buis, Jennifer (Mike) Martinson, Anna Buis, Erica (Dan) Robison, and Todd (Melissa) Shadley; great-grandchildren: Grace, Shane, Troy, Olivia, Maddy, Ella, Greyson, and Gavin; and several nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents and siblings: Robert Shadley, Jr. and Shirley Hart.
