Paul Edwin Holdeman, 62, of Middlebury, died at 7 a.m. Wednesday (April 21, 2010) at Our Lady of Peace Hospital/Triumph in Mishawaka. He had been in failing health.
He was born Sept. 10, 1947, to Merle B. and Marilou (Wolf) Holdeman in Elkhart.
He is survived by two daughters, Stephanie (Ron) Brantley of Granger and Stacy (Todd) Plank of Bristol; two grandchildren, Ares and Blake Brantley, at home; brother Charles R. (Mejen) Holdeman of Elkhart; and father Merle B. Holdeman of Bristol.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marilou Holdeman, and brother, Thomas L. Holdeman.
Paul was a 1966 graduate of Elkhart High School and soon after joined the United States Army, where he was an instructor at Aberdeen (Md.) Proving Grounds. After his honorable discharge, he worked at Bontrager Heating and A.C., then did farming for a time. He also worked for his father at the Tired Iron Farm in Bristol. He was a longtime member of St. John of the Cross Episcopal Church and was a member of the Tin Lizzy Travelers, a club that enjoyed Model T’s. Paul also built and refurbished old clocks for his family and friends.
He was an Army veteran from the Vietnam era.
