Paul Levy, born April 6, 1950 passed away Feb. 17th after fighting a long illness.

He is survived by his wife and children, as well as his brother and father.

Son of a Holocaust survivor, Mr. Levy was born in New York, and grew up in India and New Jersey. He graduated [Magna Cum Laude] from Yeshiva University before attending Georgetown Law School, where he graduated with Honors and was on Law Review. After graduating Law School he worked under the Nixon Administration to help Jews escape persecution in the Soviet Union.

Mr. Levy made Idaho his home in 1976, where he married Marcia Bondy and had two daughters, Sari and Rebekah. He practiced law in Boise for nearly 20 years, beginning his career at Boise Cascade. He later started a private law practice, where he worked in international law before retiring in 1997.

Mr. Levy was active in two synagogues and the Hebrew school, where he taught Jewish history and Hebrew. He also taught seminars on Judaism that were enjoyed by the whole community. A history buff, Mr. Levy spent much of his time reading and writing, publishing his first book in 2006.

He will be remembered for his quick wit, courage, unfailing kindness, good humor, strong spirit and love of Star Trek and Woody Allen.

The last 10 years of his life were a constant battle with his illness that was cushioned by superb medical care and his wife, Shelly Levy. Marrying Shelly, his high school sweetheart, in 2003 was a blessing for which he never stopped thanking God. Paul not only got to be with his long-time love, but he also became very close with her daugher, Lori.

Survivors include wife Shelly Levy, daughters Rebekah and Sari Levy, stepdaughter Lori Gayle, stepson Andy Leviss, brother Philip Levy and Father Harris Levy.
