Paul E. Dyer, 79, of Fortville, passed away Wednesday, December 3, 2014, at Harbour Manor & Lodge in Noblesville.

He was born July 12, 1935, in Bloomington to the late Fred and Verna (Prose) Dyer, was a 1953 graduate of Bloomington High School and a U.S. Army veteran.

Paul worked in the body shop at Fortville Ford and Goeke Chrysler/Dodge in Noblesville before owning and operating Wagon Wheel Liquor Store in Fortville for 27 years. He was one of only two builders of calliopes and band organs in the United States and also maintained the carousel at the Indianapolis Children’s Museum for a time. Paul also enjoyed wintering on Pine Island in Florida.

He is survived by his wife Patty (Smith) Dyer, whom he married in Fortville on December 31, 1966; children: Teresa (Bill) Nethery of Bloomington; Susie (Mark) Snider of Winchester; Rick Jarrett of Kokomo; Melanie (Jeff) Hinkley and Randy (Cheryl) Dyer, both of Phoenix, AZ; and Deanna (Joel) Kohen of Nashville, IN; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
