Paul Brodeur loved history. Many of us got to see him deliver an impassioned -and lengthy- dissertation on the John Brown Bell, or the history of the Praying Indians, or some other account of how Marlborough came to be. But there is something about his love for history that is deeply revealing about where his true Passions lie: The love of his home.
Paul Brodeur was a man of Marlborough. It was here that his life began and it was here where he would remain. He served his community well. Coaching baseball and basketball.
Paul was committed to his Faith. At St. Mary’s parish, he worked to create a living Stations of the Cross. He had to convince carpenters and technicians to volunteer, to erect a stage on the altar, complete with screens and lights. Had to convince parishioners to join on as actors, models, musicians, tailors, and makeup artists. Anything the play needed. And people agreed to help; because of the love he showed to them.
He loved his family. Son of Gerard and Rita Brodeur. Brother of Anette, Elaine, Jerry, Mark, Patty, and Sue. Husband of Denise. He is survived by his son Anthony Brodeur and his wife Cassandra Dellicarpini and his grandson Fox. He was a man who knew how to enjoy his life. He loved to read everything from historical texts to The Lord of the Rings. He loved to write about Marlborough history; to be with his friends playing golf, watching Tom Brady, the Patriots or whatever Boston sports team was on offer.
Paul passed peacefully into new life on August 30th, 2021 in his 70th year; surrounded by family and friends. He set out to love others and to be open to their love in return; and in this venture Paul Brodeur was a man of great accomplishment. In the end, he had truly found ‘the better way.’
