Paul D. Pruiett, a resident of Cocoa Beach for forty-five years, was born to Pearlie Edwards Pruiett and Nellie Suzanne (nee Smith) on July 22, 1926 in Toledo, Ohio. Paul (known by many as “P. D.”) was a World War 2 veteran, having served as a tank driver with Troop C 107th Cavalry Recon Squadron. His unit operated in France, Germany, and Austria. Paul married Genevieve Jordan in 1949, a marriage that was blessed with six children.
Paul was a private pilot and owned and flew two airplanes. His favorite was his Ercoupe, which he and his wife used to fly from Michigan to the Florida Keys. He was also an avid boater and fisherman, taking his family on trips to the Keys and the Bahamas aboard his sport fishing cruiser “Exodus.” He was a mechanical person who did his own building and repairs, skills he took time to pass on to his children. He enjoyed gardening and was active in it to the end.
Paul was a retired pharmaceutical representative.
