On the Ides of March 2022, Paul Bailey McClain died of suicide at his home in Gooding, Idaho after suffering from Parkinson’s Disease for several years.
Paul was born on April 27, 1948 in Los Angeles, California to Kendall and Suzanne McClain. Paul earned his Bachelor of Science from Humboldt State University in Arcata, California in 1977. He worked as a professional Wildlife Biologist for the Bureau of Land Management for 30 years.
Paul enjoyed practicing Sanzyuryu Jiu-Jitsu and earned his black belt after moving to Idaho. He was also an amateur astronomer and an avid Science Fiction reader. Nature was a big part of Paul’s life, and he spent much of his time hunting, backpacking and birding.
Paul is survived by his wife of 43 years – Deb; his only child – Sean Paul; his brother – “Mac” (Melinda); his trusty lab – Penny; and the bane of his existence, alley cats Ivan and Crookshanks.
