Paul A. Smith a longtime resident of Ipswich, MA passed away on January 2, 2020 after a long battle with Phase IV Pancreatic Liver cancer at the age of 64. He was born on July 27, 1955 in Amesbury, MA The son of the late Peter James Smith Jr. and Margery Ouellette, Smith, Porter of West Newbury MA. He was the loving husband of Carol Anne Smith formerly of Waltham, MA. He was the brother to Peter James Smith 3rd and Michael A Smith both of Hampton N.H. and the late Mark A. Smith of Boston, MA. He leaves behind his daughter from a previous marriage Alicia Ann Smith of East Boston whom he loved and cared for as a single father. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, along with a grandnephew and grandniece. He also had many relatives from his mother’s family uncles, aunts and cousins most notably the families of Robert and Linda Muise of Penfield N.Y. and Amiee and Dorothy Ouellette of Londonderry, NH and Florida. He cared very much for his family. In 1959 his family moved to West Newbury MA where he had fond memories of growing up. He graduated the Central School and Pentucket Region High School where he graduated in 1973. After high school he attended the business college Lowell Tech, American Institute of Banking at Northern Essex Community College and Northeastern and the New England School of Banking and Finance in Boston. In January of 1974 he started a long career in banking and finance most notably at the Arlington Trust of Lawrence MA, Somerset Bank of Somerville MA and US Trust where he served as an Assistant Vice President.
