Patricia “Patty” Rios Iseminger, 78, born in Des Moines, Iowa on June 12, 1943, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2021, at MercyOne Medical Center. She will be remembered for her beautiful smile, humility, and quiet works of mercy. Patty had a big heart and a generous spirit. She welcomed everyone to her table and fed them well, in both body and soul. She was loved by everyone fortunate enough to have met her.

Patty lived her faith through action and believed we gain more graces by doing works of mercy in private. Of all the acts of kindness we do know, there are countless others we don’t. Those are what endear her to each one of us.

Patty was a Mercy Associate for the Sisters of Mercy, member of the Altar and Rosary Society, volunteer catechism teacher, American Legion Auxiliary member, volunteer at St. Joseph Emergency Family Shelter, Mercy hospital volunteer, and she also helped resettle refugees and immigrants into the Des Moines community so they could have a better life. Even up to the end, as she did throughout her life, Patty performed these countless acts of kindness and generosity for others – all without publicity or notoriety.

Patty is survived by her husband, Larry Iseminger; former husband Tomas Muñoz; her children, Patrick (Cathy Bennet) Muñoz, Christopher (Casey Kohrt) Muñoz, Eric (Susan) Muñoz, Larry (Andrea) Iseminger, David Iseminger, and Jana (Mick Hockill) Iseminger; nine grandchildren; siblings, Margaret Rodriguez, Raymond (Helen) Rios, and Vincent (Roberta) Bejarano; sister-in-law Patricia (Merle) Jones; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and many dear friends. Patty was preceded in death by her parents, Maria and Leonardo Rios; her sisters, Aurora Lumadue and Conchita Stroup; and her brothers, Thomas Rios, Joaquin Bejarno, and Phillip Bejarno.
