Patrick “PJ” Cox, age 19 of O’Fallon, IL, passed away on January 10, 2021 at Anderson Hospital. PJ was born August 20, 2001 in Belleville, IL. It was PJ’s dream to travel and see the world, and he planned to join the United States Navy next month. He was an amazing self-taught musician, excelling at playing the acoustic and bass guitar. He will be remembered for his dry, yet funny, sense of humor.
PJ loved to laugh and enjoyed making others laugh. He was loved by each person who met him, and he was the glue that held his friends and family close. PJ was very close to his siblings but had a special bond with his brother, mother, and father. He will be fondly remembered, loved, and missed by all who knew him.
PJ is preceded in death by his great-grandparents. PJ is survived by his father, Keith Cox of O’Fallon, IL; his mother, Deidre Peterson of Pecatonica, IL; his sister, Chrystine Cox of New Port Richey, FL; two brothers, Jacob Cox of O’Fallon, IL and Matthew Cox of Pecatonica, IL; paternal grandparents, Dick and Shirley (nee, Calvert) Cox of O’Fallon, IL; maternal grandfather, John (Kay) Peterson of Pecatonica, IL and grandmother, Vicki (Russ, nee Hall) Brown of Cape Coral, FL; great-grandmother, Adell (the late Gene) Peterson of Pecatonica; special aunt and uncle, Joe and Sarah Peterson of Oshkosh, WI; along with other aunts, uncles and cousins.
