Patrick Joseph McDonell CWO2 U.S. Army (Ret) May 13, 1954 – March 15, 2015
Patrick passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015, in Tucson at the Tucson Medical Center. Patrick was born in Omaha, Neb. to Paul and Jeanne (Coe) McDonnell. Patrick enlisted in the U.S. Army upon graduating from Kearney High School in San Diego, Calif. His first enlistment, 1972-1976, he served as a helicopter crew chief serving in Vietnam. After coming home he married and had two children. He reenlisted in 1980 and was assigned to the Engineer Corps where he served until 1984. Upon his second reenlistment, he transferred to the Military Intelligence Corps and became a Counter Intelligence agent where he served until his retirement in 1997, retiring as a CWO 2. During his time in MI he also pulled tours in Bosnia, Haiti and Germany. After his retirement he worked as a civilian contractor at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, Md. and Fort Huachuca, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his mother, Jeanne Rae (Coe) McDonnell; sister Laura Ann McDonnell and brother, Paul Michael McDonnell. He is survived by his father, Paul J. McDonnell and stepmother, Joan C. McDonnell, both of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; sisters Rita M. (Dave) of Wood River, Ill. and Janet (John) L. Smolic of Tucson, Ariz.; son, Matthew J. McDonnell of Tucson, Ariz.; daughter Keri Ann McDonnell of Panama City, Fla.; five grandchildren and several; nieces and nephews.
