August 20, 1937 – August 15, 2015

Dr. Patrick G. Moran died on August 15, 2015, at St. Mary’s Hospital, five days before his 78th Birthday.

Patrick was born in Denver, Colorado, to Jean and Jimmy Moran.  He contracted polio as a child, but worked hard to overcome a difficult childhood.  Patrick went on to attend the University of Notre Dame, Regis University, and then obtained his medical degree from the University of Colorado in Denver.  He earned a fellowship in medical oncology from the University of Utah.

Dr. Moran was an internal medicine and oncology physician for many years in Grand Junction, after moving his family to Grand Junction in 1967.  He also served as the director of medical education at St. Mary’s Hospital.  He enjoyed serving as a mentor to young physicians.

Patrick enjoyed exploring the world with his wife, Jackie, as he served as a ship doctor for Holland America Cruise Lines.  He was also active in the Grand Junction Lions Club, as well as with the Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish.

Patrick is survived by his wife to whom he was married 53 years, Jackie, and their four children, Michelle Moran Bailey of Bozeman, MT; Mike (Barb) Moran, of Grand Junction CO; Trish (Chris) Mahre, of Grand Junction, CO, and Katie (Karl) Brewer of Fort Huachuca, AZ.  He is also survived by eight grandchildren, of whom he was very proud, Riley, Tommy, Ellie, Adam, Milus, Liam, Makayla, and Mandy.  Patrick is also survived by his sisters, Eileen (Robert) Anderson, of Denver, CO, and Mary (Tom) Vitolo of Bozeman, MT and Sun Lakes, AZ.
