PATRICK F. LAUER, SR. 

 

    Patrick F. “Paddy” Lauer, Sr., 82, of Carlisle, died Tuesday, April 12, 2016 at home, surrounded by his loving family.

 

Born July 4, 1933 in Shamokin, he was a son of the late Clarence and Alice (Ryan) Lauer.

 

Paddy was a graduate of St. Edwards High School in Shamokin and was a U S Army Signal Corps veteran of the Korean War.  He owned and operated the Shamrock Deli and Paddy’s Distributors, both of Carlisle. 

 

He was an avid tennis and accordion player and NY Yankees Fan;  a member of Eagles Aerie #1229, Carlisle.  He was also a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Carlisle.  Paddy was a founding father of Carlisle Midget Football of 44 years.

 

Paddy was a very giving man and deeply loved his family.

 

He was preceded in death by a brother:  Clarence Lauer.

 

Surviving are his wife of 60 years:  Rita (Purcell) Lauer, whom he married on April 30, 1956 in St. Mary’s Church, Hagerstown, MD; four daughters:  Ann Carr of Red Lion; Margaret Kipps of Carlisle, Sandra Shank (and husband Tom) of Carlisle and Kelly Lauer (and husband Eric Roth) of Carlisle; a son:  Patrick Lauer, Jr. of Mechanicsburg; eight grandchildren:  Ryan, Ben, Michael, Joey, Stephanie, Ashley, Patrick and Caroline; six great grandchildren and a nephew:  Kevin Lauer.
