Pete was born on December 7, 1939, in Walla Walla Washington.
Pete served in the Air Force from 1959 to 1963. He then worked at Hewlett-Packard for 15 years and was transferred from San Jose, California to Boise, Idaho in 1977. Pete then started a manufacturing rep. business, Sierra Technical Sales, which he operated for another 15 years. He ended his career as a realtor at Coldwell Banker.
Pete married Janet Lodes on October 21, 1972 in Carson City, Nevada. Pete and Jan enjoyed many adventures together, starting with jazz festivals on the California coast, camping, and vacations in Monterey, Hawaii, New Orleans and Puerto Rico, to name a few. Pete and Jan enjoyed 48 years of marriage, and Pete always loved to refer to Jan as his “Bride”.
Pete loved everything outdoors (camping, hunting and archeology). He would venture into the mountains or desert with his young grandchildren in tow to collect rocks, goldmine, and hunt for arrowheads. His grandchildren think fondly back on these memories of adventure spent with their beloved grandfather.
The family shared a vacation retreat in Terrace Lakes, where everyone would ride dirt bikes and snowmobiles. Pete would maintain the recreation vehicles on a daily basis, to keep them safe for his girls and their friends. After returning to Idaho from Utah in the late 90s, Pete and Jan purchased their second cabin in Terrace Lakes where again their daughters, son-in-law’s and grandkids enjoyed family time, swimming and mountain fun.
Above all, Pete cherished time with his family.
Pete is survived by his wife, Janet Peterson, his daughters, Chris Bolander, Sharon Marks, and Tracy Lentz, son-in-law Ray Marks and Kevin Bolander, his grandchildren, Joshua Myers, Brittany Seibold, her husband Ryan Seibold, Baily Hazzard, Cadie Myers, Kaiya Lentz, Brenden Marks, Matt Wilson and his wife Chelsie Wilson, his great grandchildren Ryder Pettersen, Daxton Seibold and Lakelyn Wilson, His sister Darlene McClanahan and brother-in-law Norm, his nephews Kevin and Greg and niece Lori McClanahan.
Our family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to the Idaho State Veterans Home for the loving care they provided each and every day during Pete’s final years. They became an extension of our family and we truly loved each and every one of them. On Pete’s final day, the nurses and CNA’s went above and beyond setting out chairs, providing a table of refreshments and moving his bed close to the window so his family could spend time letting him know how much he was loved.
