Patrick Darrow, 58, of Jacksonville, IL passed away at Passavant Area Hospital on Friday, July 31, 2020, from cancer and chronic lung disease. Patrick was born on January 17, 1962, to Raymond and Odette Grosjean Darrow in Ellsworth, Maine.

As Patrick’s father served in the United States Air Force, Patrick was able to experience a cultured childhood and spent most of his young life living in Greece, Australia, and England. It was upon his father’s death that he, his mother and brother returned to the states where Patrick spent his teenage and early adult years in Nampa, Idaho. Later in life Patrick moved to Springfield, IL where on January 14, 1989, he met his lifelong companion Brad Barnes.

Patrick was very accomplished in the Foodservice and Hospitality Industry where he held a number of positions in several cities throughout the state. Locally he worked as a server at Lonzerotti’s Italian Restaurant in Jacksonville, IL and received the honor of “Server of the Year” on multiple occasions. Though a talented and well respected server Patrick was most well known for his desserts served at the restaurant, especially his cakes. Patrick and his companion Brad also owned and operated Aquatic Treasures Pet Center in Jacksonville for several years until Patrick’s health condition became too complex.

Patrick enjoyed cooking and had a great sense of home repair and decorating. He loved traveling and spending time with friends. He and Brad especially delighted in hosting the Barnes/Roark family Thanksgiving dinner yearly. Though Patrick’s turkey was good, it was his cake and pie that everyone came for.

Patrick was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Darrow; and his brother, Robin “Rob” Darrow.

Patrick is survived by his companion of 31 years, Brad Barnes of Jacksonville; his mother Odette Darrow of Nampa, Idaho; his son Kyle Valenzuela of Yelm, Washington, and numerous family members on both he and Brad’s side of the family.
