Patricia Watson, age 88, of Algona passed away on January 11, 2022 at Good Samaritan Society in Algona. On May 18th, 1933, Patricia Lou Hanify was born. She passed away of natural causes on January 11, 2022 at the age of 88. She was the daughter of Miles and Helen Hanify of Tama, Iowa. Patricia grew up in Tama, Iowa and went on to attend Parson’s College in Fairfield, Iowa. It was there she met her forever soulmate, Robert E. Watson. Pat earned her Teaching Certificate and soon became an Elementary School Teacher. Patricia and Robert were united in marriage on December 26, 1953. They were married for 67-years and had three children, Robert, Rickard, and Tricia. Robert accepted a new position at Read’s Furniture and moved his family to Algona, Iowa. Patricia had a single primary passion, teaching. Her early career included “Miss Pat’s Jack n’ Jill” Preschool where she taught pre-school children in her home. Pat was hired by the Algona Community School District where her career spanned 33-years. She retired in 1999 and began substitute teaching for another 9-years. Patricia traveled every weekend to attend Drake University in Des Moines and earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Education. Patricia was a devout Catholic and enjoyed teaching CCD classes to young kids for 11-yrs. Patricia’s life was full of grace and gratitude. She never complained and had an abundant amount of never-ending energy. She loved people and will always be remembered for her true sense of empathy and compassion. Patricia is survived by her son, Rick Watson of McMinnville, Oregon, daughter Tricia Carlson and husband Steve Carlson of Algona, Iowa, Grandson, Brandon Bjustrom and wife Kelli Jo of Mount Ayr, Iowa, Granddaughter Claire Watson of McMinnville, Oregon, Great GrandChildren, Ambraya, Londyn, and Cal of Mount Ayr, Iowa. Pat is predeceased by her husband, Robert E. Watson and her eldest son, Robert A. Watson When not working, Patricia enjoyed gardening, flowers, her time spent with family, friends, and co-workers. Pat loved to socialize and learn all she could about other people’s lives.
