Patricia “Patty” Smith Broderick, 89, of Mooresville, passed away on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017 at Gordon Hospice House.
She was born on October 4, 1928 in Minneapolis, MN to the late Gerald J. and Sarah Price Smith.
Patty was a loving mother and patriot who was Mother Nature’s best friend. She was meticulous in every detail of her life and ever mindful of the needs of others.
She was married in 1948 to her late husband, Franklin C. Broderick, Jr. and was a longtime member of the Episcopal church. She joined Rocky Mount UMC in 1980, having joined the Lucy Christie Circle before that. She was employed by Statesville Auto Auction in the 1980’s and then worked for a home builder supply company selling windows, doors, stair parts, etc. Patty served as a volunteer for Iredell County Hospice and Palliative Care and joined Williamson’s Chapel UMC on July 10, 2016.
She is survived by her daughter, Karen Lynn Broderick, of Raleigh; son, Gerald Scott Broderick and wife, Pattie, of Greenville SC; granddaughter, Emily Christine Mehl; grandson, Clifford Scott Broderick and wife, Angie, who are expecting in November; and great grandsons, Tyler and Cade Mehl.
