Patricia “Patty” Jo Bonafield, 69, passed away at her home in Terra Alta, WV, surrounded by her family on Friday, January 15, 2016.
She was born on December 27, 1946, in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Joseph and Kathryn (Lynch) Fulaytar.
Patty was a teacher for 30 plus years, having taught in Preston and Garrett Counties. She had a gift for teaching and loved her job. She was a graduate of Barrackville High School, Fairmont State College, and West Virginia University. Patty had a strong faith in God and a beautiful singing voice. She attended Wesley United Methodist Church and Kanes Creek United Methodist Church. She loved to read, but some of Patty’s favorite times were spent playing board games with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a thoughtful and caring person, always thinking of others.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, James “Jack” Bonafield; two daughters, Beth Barter and spouse Carlos of Cheyenne, WY and Jodie Morrison and spouse Scott of Charlotte, NC; one brother David Fulaytar and spouse Shirley of Fairmont; three grandchildren, McKenna & Elise Morrison and Samuel Barter; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jean and John Bolyard of Barrackville, Jill Bonafield-White of Morgantown, Dorothy Snyder of Dover, DE, Nanette and Hal Eaton of Myrtle Beach, SC, Rodney and Carla Bonafield of Cape Coral, FL and Steve Reckart of Lancaster, PA; several nieces and nephews.
