Patricia “Pat” A. (Nauert) Funkhouser, 90, formerly of New Whiteland, IN, passed away on September 23, 2022.
Pat was born on April 9, 1932, in Indianapolis, IN, to Arthur and Stella Nauert. Pat was raised in Evansville, IN and graduated from Bosse High School in 1950. Pat played accordion in high school and later taught accordion for Campbell Music Studios.
She later met her husband, Charles Funkhouser, on a blind date. He preceded her in death and they were married for 56 years.
Pat is survived by her children, Cheryl (La Veta Jones) Funkhouser and David (Carol) Funkhouser; grandchildren, Carrie (Shane) Pitts and Bradley Funkhouser; great-grandchildren, Taylor Funkhouser, Gabe and Carrington Pitts, and Sam and Rusty Funkhouser; her two sisters, Beverly Yeager of Lafayette, IN and Shirley Headlee of Texas, and several nieces and nephews.
Pat worked at LS Ayres, National Bank of Greenwood, and Johnson County National Bank.
Pat loved being around and helping people. She was a Cub Scout and Girl Scout leader, helped with the local 4-H Club, and was a volunteer for the Johnson County Senior Services. Pat and her husband, Charles, delivered the Indianapolis Star and she was on several bowling leagues. Pat was also a member of the Red Hats, was in several chapters of Beta Sigma Phi throughout her sisterhood, her last chapter being the Alpha Gamma Master, and was a member of the Greenwood Christian Church. She was a big Chicago Cubs fan and some of her favorite pass times were watching game shows and listening to Big Band Music. Pat was also a stroke and cancer survivor.
Pat was preceded in death by her brother, Ronald Lee Nauert, her parents, and her husband, Charles Funkhouser.
